VOICES emerged from a profound need for truth-telling, deep listening, and community building. Our goal was to create an art piece that inspires the cultivation of a new world, where solidarity is the natural order, and women are holistically loved and free from harm.

Since we premiered the piece in December of 2022, these needs have only intensified. Now, we feel it is more important than ever to share VOICES with communities across the globe and invite them to experience the power of black women’s stories. We seek collaboration with communities, large and small, to cultivate spaces for listening—whether it be in lecture halls, art galleries, living rooms, backyards or around kitchen tables.

Hosting a VOICES listening session creates a sanctuary for people to embark on a powerful journey of sound and story. Participants are called to open their hearts, minds, and spirits to another’s experience and in doing so, strengthen the bonds between community and self. This is more than a listening experience; it is a transformative act and a first step in a beautiful journey of solidarity making in our collective imagination.
